Criminal Cases in the Geneva County Courts
Geneva County criminal court cases are divided by jurisdiction. The Circuit Court hears felony prosecutions and appeals. What the Case File Shows
A Geneva County criminal case file follows one prosecution. It can hold the accusation, court dates, rulings, financial entries, result, and sentence. It should be read as a set. A charge by itself does not show whether the matter remains pending, was dismissed, ended in acquittal, or produced a conviction.

A case detail may also show parties, status, court action, financial history, an action summary, and document attachments. An arrest report or jail entry is a different record and may use an earlier charge description.
Read Geneva County Case Outcomes
Disposition means the outcome of a charge. “Pending” means the court has not entered a final result. A dismissal ends the charge without a conviction. A nolle prosequi means the prosecution was discontinued. An acquittal follows a not-guilty decision, while a conviction follows a guilty plea or verdict. The sentence tells what the judge imposed after conviction.

Stages of a Criminal Case

Give the case number if known, plus a party name, approximate year, court division, and whether a plain or certified copy is needed. Records are electronically imaged, yet not every needed image is necessarily part of the basic remote result. No verified local copy or certification fee was found, so ask for the current amount before sending payment.
Access & Restrictions
Alabama court records are generally open unless a law or court order closes them. Ala. Code §36-12-40 protects citizen access to public writings, subject to exceptions. That principle does not expose juvenile and Youthful Offender material, sealed or expunged cases, victim-sensitive data, Social Security numbers, or privileged statewide criminal-history information.
A missing Alacourt result does not prove that no Geneva County case exists. A spelling issue, court split, older image, restricted record, or municipal filing may explain the gap. Diversion can affect how a pending criminal charge moves and how its eventual outcome appears in the docket.
